This month we are celebrating local apples. The Okanagan Valley is the main apple growing region in BC, with small commercial plantings in The Fraser Valley and Vancouver Island. In BC the top 3 new varieties planted are Gala, Fuji and Ambrosia with the traditional varieties being McIntosh, Red & Golden Delicious and Spartans. Our celebration dinner will feature:
- Apple celery & walnut salad or apple cider french onion soup
- Apple glazed cornish hen with apple relish or pork wellington with apple sage sauce
- Bourbon apple pie or old-fashioned apple fritters
